Workshops and programs on bodily freedom

- For folk high schools

At its core, our workshops are about the freedom to be who you are, regardless of the body and associated privileges you are born into.

The project's target audience is young people aged 18-25 who are students at folk high schools in Denmark. We focus on equality, inclusion, and consent through conversations about sex and gender in the world we live in.

In this context, we would like to offer collaboration with your folk high school on a series of offerings for your young people within sexual education, social policies, gender expressions, and young people's opportunities to express themselves bodily, along with an international perspective from South Africa.

In short, the programs are based on a project where Female Freedom, in spring 2023, with support from Danida/Ministry of Foreign Affairs, collected voices and perspectives from young women in South Africa and Denmark. This includes a visual/video tableau about bodily constraints experienced by being born in a female body in their respective societies, highlighting the different perspectives surrounding the freedom and equality of young women to express themselves in the world.

There is a focus on informing and engaging your young people on the above topics, based on reflection, dialogue, and inner work regarding the experiences of other young people in Denmark and South Africa on the same subjects.

The programs are designed for all gender identities among your students and not just women – this is a crucial point. The format includes both short and longer programs, as well as options for lectures and smaller activities. We tailor the programs to align with your offerings and teaching structure.

The workshop and any related programs will be facilitated by Io Hultén and Clara Sølvsteen, in close dialogue with relevant staff on your side and in accordance with your principles and values.
